Sheep

The 400 sheep which are used for the 2020 continental sheepdog championship belong to Markus Nyffeler from Rüeggisberg BE. They are a cross between Texel, Charolais, Suffolk and NZ Romney and have been selected out of 800 commercial ewes. The sheep spend the summer in the swiss alps at around 1600 – 2200 meters above sea level and graze as a “moving flock” in the lowlands during winter. Since these sheep are worked almost daily with either working or livestock guarding dogs, they will guarantee a perfect base for a successful and even championship.
